md5sum parabuntu img

Postby beco » Thu Apr 13, 2017 4:21 am

Dear parausers,

I am having trouble booting my microserver board with the image.

It never gets an IP address. As I don't have HDMI monitor/cable/connector, nor RS232, I am flying blind.

First thing, then, can anyone confirm if my download is ok?

Is this the MD5SUM of the following image?

$ md5sum parabuntu-2016.11.1-headless-z7010.img
4b8d896a49e71de7a1cd312b5cd2bead parabuntu-2016.11.1-headless-z7010.img

I can't find the info on the net. Note that I calculate it after unziping, because I already had deleted the ziped file.

Thank you. I hope we find soon what is the cause.

Beco.

PS. I saw some troubleshootings, but they ask to boot it with HDMI to change IP to static. I can't do that.
Also, for some reason, I cannot mount the 32GB sd card I copyed with "dd". It gives me the following error:

$ mount /dev/sdb1 /media/usb0
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb1,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error

In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so.

And dmesg (syslog the same) just give this message:

[20597.417471] FAT-fs (sdb1): utf8 is not a recommended IO charset for FAT filesystems, filesystem will be case sensitive

I've found sha256sum in the github repo:

Hi,

This is a warning, not an error. The FAT file system (containing the boot files) should be mounted correctly and be accessible. Also, note that the second partition (sdb2) should contain the actual root file system, using ext4. You must be able to mount both systems correctly, otherwise your card won't work.

Did you write the image to /dev/sdb (which is correct) or to /dev/sdb1 (which is wrong)?

Best Regards,

That looks a bit suspicious. Usually it's /dev/mmcblkX but I guess a USB <-> sdcard apdapter could show up as /dev/sdX.
Are you sure you're writing to a block device and not to a partition? It should be /dev/sdX, not /dev/sdXN (e.g. /dev/sdd, not /dev/sdd1)

Try this:
Code: Select all
$ dmesg -w
....
<PLUG IN SD CARD or USB adapter>
[4504510.617941] mmcX: new high speed SDHC card at address e624
[4504510.618995] mmcblkX: mmc0:e624 SD08G 7.40 GiB
[4504510.636063]  mmcblkX: p1
<Ctrl-C>
$ su
Password: <ENTER PASSWORD>
$ gunzip -c parabuntu-2016.11.1-hdmi-X.img.gz | dd of=/dev/mmcblkX bs=1M
$ sync

The sync command is important. It forces the OS to flush the disk buffer cache to the sdcard.

What's the model of your sdcard?

What's the model of your usb adapter?
