It will be some time – 5+ years! – before I think the Xilinx/Altera will have got the 64-bit ARM integrated with programmable logic, as required for getting data in/Out of the Epiphany DSPs.
I am sure that somebody will be building arrays of 64-bit ARMs, but it will lack the Floating-Point performance of the Epiphany and takes many times the wattage/power. The 64-bit ARM is developed/targeted towards Servers and to compete with 64-bit Intel CPUs. I am sure it will find it's way into Mobile phone as well
