Yes, matmul works with the latest bitstream -- thanks! I have posted a question regarding somewhat worse than in the quick start guide timings on the SDK board .

Andreas: Unfortunately I don't know what is different about the kernel I compiled. I've received the SD you recommended from Amazon, and the default image at doesn't boot either. Maybe it's a good idea to post another one with the new kernel.

As Andreas noted, the Hello-World output is as expected from the E64 board. As for the matmul - if you are running the latest eSDk (5.13.07.10), then this example uses a feature of the chip that was not supported in the previous firmware revisions. Please follow the instructions in the UPDATE 2 of the release announcement:

Please make sure that you backup the old bitstream before updating to the new! If the new one does not work on your board, it is the shortest path to restoring the current state.

That's great news! What you are seeing is the result of a know anomaly in the E64 chip. There is an errata (documented in the datasheet) that limits fetching instructions and loading data (LDR) from DRAM to row-2. Using DMA to bring in data on that row works fine. This is unfortunate, but in many programs workarounds to this issue are ok.

With respect to the matmul, this is likely due to an old example. I recommend installing the latest SDK. viewtopic.php?f=13&t=422
