Yep, that was the problem... it's been working fine since and I've gotten a preliminary version of the SUMMA matrix multiplication algorithm to run on the board. So much for passive cooling ... but at least it works

So after racking my brain trying to figure this out I realized the board was pretty hot. I thought the passive cooling would be enough for a hello world example. I threw the board in my fridge for a few minutes, then reran this and it ran fine.

I'm still not 100% sure but I'll try putting a fan over the heatsink to see how it works.
