2nd ethernet interface?

Postby dtaht » Thu Dec 18, 2014 5:11 am

I see that there is now a 4 port ethernet extension card for the FMC

http://ethernetfmc.com/product/ethernet-fmc/

I am curious if there has been any progress on adding a 2nd ethernet interface to the parallella? Or is there a FMC to samtec adaptor of some sort?

I'm not aware of anyone working on this, but you could hook up a PHY module via the Porcupine breakout which is now available to buy.

I would like to see a 2nd gig ethernet as well. A USB 3 port would be almost as good (for obvious reasons). In the very least a second 10/100 ethernet would be beneficial. Any one of these would allow the primary gig ethernet to be "production", and the secondary ethernet "administrative". Ideally each interface would sit on a separate network providing a clean separation of concerns.

i've just ended up with ethernetfmc.com while looking to build a high speed ethernet tap, i could not find something similar for parallella. Also, the pin out for the ethernet fmc is to my liimited knowledge not workable with the parallella board and the porcupine board either.
