Thanks Andreas,

I guess you got my email. What I'm not so sure about is what to do with the long strip of sheet metal.

I think it may be to transfer heat from under the heat plate to the bottom of the enclosure (in which case you'd have to bend it into an accordion I guess).
But if you had a porcupine board, that would not make sense.

I give up. Looking forward to the proper assembly instructions. ;)

Sorry for not having everything in place by day one. I will post youtube video this weekend. Solution involves cutting up the card board box and bending metal.

Any update on this? I think others have probably received their cases by now and I'm sure we're all waiting to build them (correctly!).

Nice job, that was very helpful. Also, thanks for adding the HDMI bitstream to 15.04.

I've come up with what I think is an improvement to the sheet of metal/cardboard used to transfer heat to the case.

If you've still got the large black heat sink from your Parallella (unused) you can simply attach the heat sink to top of the heat plate.
The heat sink came with two small double-sided stickies (one each for Zynq and Epiphany chips). I used those to attach
the heat sink flat side down. The teeth on the top of the heat sink will just scrape the top of the aluminum case, making
a perfect fit to transfer heat to the case.

See my attachment for details. It works great!

Wow, that's very cool!
Did you check temp while running using extemp?
I will go try it now...

Just amazing! I can't believe how perfectly it fits! A little disappointed that I didn't think of it myself:-)
I owe you some serious Parallella swag and a beer!

Incidentally, if anyone figures out the correct spacers to use between the board and heat plate, please update this post with a link.
The case came with four tiny spacers which are too small to be useful.

I've found that is you overtighten you'll bend the board a bit which is probably not good for the long term life of the board.
If you undertighten the nuts will be loose and you'll hear them shake around when you move the case.
