USB port not working :(

Postby sumitmah » Thu Jul 03, 2014 2:49 pm

Hello,

I am facing issues with connection usb keyboard or mouse. I am able to create SD card and able to boot up the board.

I've installed Ubuntu 14.04 and kernel with HDMI and GPIO flavers with HDMI on SD card.

1) I can see login screen, but usb mouse and keyboards are not working :(. usb mouse led is also not turning on.
2) When I connect with LAN cable board is not able to boot. If I connect, when already booted then board just keep restarting itself. :(

I'm wondering if the power supply you are using is not holding up once Ethernet or a peripheral is connected. Which power supply are you using? And is the power LED on the board staying constantly lit when you plug things in?

Cheers,

Also are you using a powered USB hub for the mouse/keyboard?
If not, I found I got a lot further in the boot process with just the keyboard connected to the USB port.
Not much use if you want to run Ubuntu (- I know -) but that may help diagnose that your power supply is close to the edge).

Cheers

I'm using 5V 2A power supply. power LED on the board stays constantly lit when keyboard / mouse connected. But it blinks (which I am assuming because board is restarting itself) when LAN cable is connected.

I am not using powered USB hub, may be that I'll try next.

That would be my guess too and if using a standards compliant powered USB hub doesn't resolve the issue by reducing the load on the board and thus power supply, I would suspect the PSU of being faulty.

sumitmah,
Don't use the USB port next to the Ethernet port.

I've tried using both the ports.
