can we port CMUcam5 code to Parallella = fastest vision

hi
can we use CMUcam5 open source code on Parallella :)
CMUcam5 open source fast vision sensor 50fps vga
CMUcam5 have only two core 168mhz + 36mhz = 50fps vga fast vision sensor
Parallella have 16 core = fastest vision sensor :o
so can we port CMUcam5 source code to Parallella
what do you think
i don't know how to port it :x

Are you suggesting replacing the nxp chip on the board? If so,then someone would need to build a camera daughter board and connect it to the Zynq FPGA logic. Otherwise, it seems possible to connect a USB cable, but then one might as well use a webcam? Sorry if I missed something (please correct me if that is the case).

cameras aside, the CMUcam5 image processing code itself is written in assembly for the particular arm chip they are using. it is possible to port but it would probably be better to just do write new code from scratch. also, the detection algorithm used is not conducive to parallel processing without serious chicanery which would have a large amount of overhead. finally, the detection algorithm used is very simplistic and dependent on colors. while possible, it doesn't seem worth doing unless you are integrating into an existing system.

the algorithms in OpenCV are more sophisticated (and useful) but these too have not been ported to use the Epiphany III chip.

am suggesting to use cmucam5 Firmware / image processing code on Parallella Epiphany III chip to get more Performance More than 50 fps tracking frame rate .
i think Epiphany III chip can do up to 200 fps tracking frame rate .
