Difference between P1602-DK03 and A101040?

Postby jincheng.li » Thu May 18, 2017 1:55 am

I know they must be different somehow, but from a user's perspective, any difference should be notified? Say A101040 has less GPIO pins? All SW for P1602-DK03 can be directly used by A101040? Thanks.

There are basically two different versions of the Parallella.
One uses a Xilinx Zynq 7010, the other one uses a Xilinx Zynq 7020.

The Parallella board utilizing a Zynq 7020 have more GPIOs and more FPGA resources. These differences are only relevant if you are developing your own add-on boards or try to build your own FPGA design. But from a general user's perspective, the only difference is that Parallella both versions use different images; the Epiphany part works exactly the same in both cases.

Sebraa, thanks for your quick reply, but I think you made a mistake, https://www.parallella.org/version-history/ shows A101040 (two subtle different versions itself) has zynq7020.

There are only two fundamentally different Parallella versions, the Zynq7010 and the Zynq7020 one.
Most other differences are whether connectors are soldered to them, whether they come with small or big heatsinks, and what type of PSU.

In your case, one has a small heatsink, the other one has a big heatsink.
