USB boot issue

A small number of users have experienced sporadic issues with getting the USB port to work.

1.) The error will show up as the following message during boot:
ehci_hcd: USB 2.0 'Enhanced' Host Controller (EHCI) Driver
ehci-pci: EHCI PCI platform driver
xusbps-dr e0002000.usb: Unable to init USB phy, missing?

2.) The problem is significantly worse on some boards

3.) Once initialized, the USB port works fine.

4.) Similar problems with the Xilinx USB driver has been reported elsewhere:

Workarounds that have had some success:
1.) Using a longer USB cable
2.) Pressing the reset button after a power cycle to force a reboot.

We are still looking for the root cause of this issue, hopefully we will have a resolution soon.

USB does not work at all on my board (it was working for a couple of days) but I don't get those boot error messages, which seems to indicate a hardware fault. I have received an RMA number, should I send my board back for investigation?

Any news about this issue? Just tested both my boards, and both of them have this problem.

I can ssh into them fine, so I'll have to play with them that way for now, but was hoping to use one of them as a terminal too, which doesn't work too well without USB...

Thankfully mine seem to work reasonably well now. Seems to typically take "only" 1-2 resets after power up before it works.

You can also try this setting.
With this setting, my Parallella always boots perfectly.

shodruk, Thanks! Could you verify that the usb drive comes up ok even if you have no cables connected to the port at boot time. Do you have a theory why this would solve the issue?
