What monitor are you using?

Samsung SyncMaster EX1920 - worked fine so far, without a single issue.
However, I got and idea and connected the board to a Samsung TV, which has a native HDMI connection - and it worked fine on the first try. So there's obviously something wrong either with the monitor, or with the HDMI-DVI adapter. It worked fine with all the devices I've been using so far (raspberry etc.) but maybe parallella is more picky.

tomasv,
Try this command through ssh and post the output.
(using Samsung SyncMaster EX1920)
$ grep modesetting /var/log/Xorg.0.log

hmm... your Parallella reported the HDMI is completely disconnected.
I suspect incompativility with that DVI adapter and Monitor. Sorry...
