System crashes when using internet

Gradually getting the parallella up and running, but I've come across two problems: 1) USB port only works sporadically (ordering a powered USB hub) and 2) when loading a web page using either Firefox or Lynx, my Parallella crashes almost every time. The error is:
"Failed to save seat data for seat0: No such file or directory"
Has anyone else experienced this internet failure? Any suggested fixes?

I am really no expert but i had problems with firefox as well. It often crashes without any warning or alert. I installed an alternative browser 'Midori' which works very stable on my parallella.

sudo apt-get install midori

May be it works for you as well!?

Thanks very much for the suggestion Reiner. I tried Midori but got the same problem and error message when loading a web page. It seems like it can get packages fine but it can't use any web browsers - even Lynx. Any suggestions from the parallella team on this web browser issue?

Separately, the powered USB hub definitely helped the reliability of the USB on start up. My wireless USB mouse/keyboard (Logitech) have now worked 3/3 from a cold start (plugging in using same power strip for USB powered hub, Parallella and fan). Even though they still don't work on reboot after using the board reboot button, I can live with this. (Before getting the powered USB, the USB success on start-up was about 1/10, so this seems to be a big improvement).

Can you run other applications fine? And if so, can you try other apps that use the network, e.g. an e-mail client.

Great to hear that you up and running with the USB workaround!
In terms of the browser instability..does your browser crash or does the whole system go down. We have seen browser (firefox/midori) instability since moving to the 14.1 Ubuntu version (it didn't use to be a problem). We're looking into it! Not having a stable browser is annoying.

I confirmed that issue.
Firefox crashed (segfault) after several minutes Youtube browsing.
But I can't reproduce system crash.

I tested on my linaro nano lightweight X environment, Firefox is very stable.
I launched Firefox, SMPlayer, libre office writer, impress, draw, calc, gimp, etc,etc...,
and I bullied my Parallella several minutes, they didn't crash at all!
