HDMI Not Working

Postby coltonhurst » Mon Jun 23, 2014 4:55 pm

Finally got all my cords, etc. for my board, and after setting up the SD card, and following the starters guide, I plug everything up, and give it power. Then, nothing on my screen happens. My monitor says it isn't getting any signal; the board is on, but the monitor is apparently receiving no video input. The cord is brand new, everything is brand new; what is wrong? It's frustrating that it doesn't work, after buying everything.

Help please! Thanks

Just to check: you definitely grabbed the HDMI versions of the Linux kernel and FPGA bitstream?

Yes, I got them from http://www.parallella.org/create-sdcard/. I made sure I selected and used the hdmi ones.

Does the green power LED, CR8 (opposite corner to the barrel jack) stay on?

What power supply are you using and is it rated at 2A or more?

If you plug it into a network do the LEDs by the Ethernet socket illuminate, and is your router leasing it a DHCP address?

Regards,

Andrew

Yes, both green lights stay on.

I am using a 5V/2A power supply.

And I haven't plugged it into a network yet, but when I can, I will try it.

Yes, I am having the same problem as well. I have the Ethernet cable plugged in & it seems to show activities but just nothing on the LCD screen. I've uploaded a video http://youtu.be/cmvMcwMo1UE.

I've used:
1. ubuntu-14.04-140611.img.gz (Extracted & burn onto uSD on Linux & Windows platform)
2. kernel-hdmi-default.tgz (copied both files to BOOT folder)
3. Copied & renamed parallella_e16_hdmi_gpiose_7020.bit.bin to parallella.bit.bin

My uSD card is a SanDisk 16GB. Not sure if it helps but am going to try an 8GB uSD card now.

BOOT folder? The devicetree.dtb, parallella.bit.bin and uImage need to go in the FAT 'BOOT' partition, it shouldn't be in a folder.
(there is a separate boot folder on rootfs partition)

I meant to say BOOT partition.

That's essentially what's happening to me. I have everything in the boot partition, and the lights come on, etc. ... but nothing happens; no video output from the hdmi!
