Try using the Advanced IP scanner and see if the Parallella appears on the network:

Then you'll at least know if it's booting O.K

Thanks. Downloaded, installed & scanned. My board was detected on my network. Is there a problem with the kernel? Any specific requirement on HDMI cable?

I'm using this HDMI cable.

Ps: placing the board on a notebook fan as it gets extremely HOT after a few minutes of running.

I am having the same problem. There are 3 files in media/BOOT and 19 folders and a checksum text file in /media/rootfs. I have rootfs partition as bootable but have tried it with the BOOT partition as bootable also. I plug in the board and I get no signal on my monitor. I am using a Samsung TV with two HDMI ports as a monitor which I have used as a monitor with my other Linux based computer.
I bought the accessory kit to make sure all cords and power supply were compatible and I installed a 5v fan.

MacTuxLin,
The blinking of the ethernet LED of your Parallella is a bit strange.

Everyone,

1. Parallella SKU? (SKU A1010X0?)

2. What type of fan are you using? (e.g. 40mm, 5V, 0.2A)

3. What PSU are you using? (e.g. 5V, 3A)

4. What HDMI cable are you using? (e.g. microHDMI-HDMI, microHDMI-DVI)

5. What monitor are you using?

6. Linux image? (e.g. ubuntu-14.04-140611.img.gz)

7. Kernel? (e.g. kernel-hdmi-140603.tgz)

8. FPGA bitstream? (e.g. parallella_e16_hdmi_gpiose_7020.bit.bin)

9. Login via ssh, type this command and post the output. (Make sure you are connecting the monitor to the Parallella)

$ cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log
