Hi Frank,

May be that your monitor doesn't get on well with the default resolution. It's possible to set a different one at boot, see:

If it's a TV/monitor, it may be set to overscan. If that's the case, you will need to hunt around for the option to disable overscan. (On my LG TV, the desired mode is called 'Just Scan', but it might be called 'Full Pixel' mode, or some such thing.)
