headless serial console freeze during upstart

Postby milw » Sun Sep 14, 2014 9:20 pm

hi all, I have the headless board, and am making progress however I can't tell if the boot is completed.
I've deleted the /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules as described in this thread http://forums.parallella.org/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=1496
yet during startup, the serial console ceases during the upstart stage:
Code: Select all
Registering SWP/SWPB emulation handler
drivers/rtc/hctosys.c: unable to open rtc device (rtc0)
ALSA device list:
  No soundcards found.
EXT4-fs (mmcblk0p2): warning: mounting fs with errors, running e2fsck is recommended
EXT4-fs (mmcblk0p2): recovery complete
EXT4-fs (mmcblk0p2): mounted filesystem with ordered data mode. Opts: (null)
VFS: Mounted root (ext4 filesystem) on device 179:2.
Freeing unused kernel memory: 188K (c0878000 - c08a7000)
Mount failed for selinuxfs on /sys/fs/selinux:  No such file or directory
EXT4-fs error (device mmcblk0p2): ext4_lookup:1437: inode #261199: comm init: deleted inode referenced: 303692
.init: plymouth-upstart-bridge main process (884) terminated with status 1

..Z+...........................j............*................5..init: plymouth-upstart-bridge main process (896) terminated with status 1
..Z+...........................j............*................5..

I can get a couple characters echoed after this, then nothing…
I also have the enet connected, and the leds indicate the interface is up however I'm not able to find the board by ping scan.
Any thoughts?

Console on serial is now disabled by default and while you get boot messages upon start-up, you don't get a login prompt. You can change this by editing the devicetree.

Thanks Andrew- I got it to boot by using shodruk's headless dtb and the proper 7010 bit.bin - I was able to ssh via ethernet! (I had mistakenly downloaded the 7020 version at first  )
