Copy the Ubuntu disk image file for micro-sd card

How does one tell if the write of the unpacked Ubuntu image to the micro-sd card was successful?

I mean win32diskimage said it was, but when I go to the USB adapter micro-sd card and open it.. it says nothing is there.

Also how much memory should I allow for the boot partition on the micro-sd card?

Any help appreciated.

Okay that makes more sense. I saw a video on Youtube about making the boot directory and that had a boot partition size of 128 kilobytes. No way that would be enough since it has to hold at least three files and just one of them is much larger than 128 kilobytes.

I am sorry I apologize, I mis-spoke. I just checked gparted and the size of my boot partition is 128 MB's, not 128 KB's.

However, I did use the windows 32 disk imager to copy the Ubuntu image file to the micro-sd card and it said the copy of the image was a success, but I still cannot find anything on the micro-sd card indicating that it was successfully copied.

Just how do I tell and must I just take Windows 32 disk imager's word for it?

Also, where in the quickstart guide does it talk about the creation of the boot partition?
