How to check power? Device looks dead

Postby danbru1211 » Sun Dec 13, 2015 11:05 am

Hi,

I didnt use the board for over a year now and I need it again. I got a new 5V 4A PSU. This one is working fine (i measured and tested it).

I did setup the micro sd correctly. When I connect the power cord to the parallella board, no led or anything is going on!

Is there an easy way to debug this?

If no lights at all come on when you apply power, then the board might have died. Based on history, the most likely reasons why this would happen:

-using a supply of > 5V at some time (even for just a second).

-leaving the board unattended on without proper cooling for days/weeks

-something was shorted on board through metal

-ESD shocks (not handling the board with proper esd care)

Is there any part I could check / change?

I know how to solder and have the equipment.
