[SOLVED] Board problems

Hey everyone
I'm having problems with my parallella desktop board.

I purchased the parallella desktop board from RS 2 weeks ago.
http://ie.rs-online.com/web/p/processor ... s/8194709/

I'm using the recommended power supply on the page
http://ie.rs-online.com/web/p/products/7066502/

I followed the instructions on the setup page to the letter, I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 with my laptop.
I tried both the headless and hdmi versions on a class 10 32GB uSD card, also tried the same class 16GB and 8GB cards afterwards with the same instructions.

On power up, CR8 LED is on, Ethernet port LEDs light up and stay on constantly.
CR10 has no activity.

HDMI didn't work, so I tried to connect through ssh, but checked the connected devices on my router and nothing new
had shown up. Parallella was definitely connected and I made sure by waiting for 10 minutes to see if it would.

I turned on the serial and tried using an Arduino Uno to communicate with the board.
I tested the Uno with my rpi2 and had no problems, I checked the ports against http://elinux.org/Parallella_UART_Connection
and got no output from the board whatsever.

Is there something I've missed or should I ask for a new board?

My experience is that if the Parallella gets its IP address through DHCP, responds to pings for a few (less than 5) seconds, and then crashes, I have flashed the wrong image (i.e. a 7010 image on 7020 hardware or vice versa). In that case, the board crashes even before SSH is up.

Newer images (headless only) strictly require a 16 GB SD card or bigger, older images (both available in HDMI and headless) work also on 8 GB cards.
