Brownbear test_stdcl_ndev_float4.x 65536 16 FAIL

Hi there.

Currently I have 2 questions and maybe someone can help.

1) I have a parallella server 16 up an running with the latest image from the website 3.2016. When I execute the brownbear tests, one of the tests fails. Do I have to worry about the general stability/reliability of the product? I noticed that when the temp is over 70C tests and other processes fail due to overheat and processes are signaled to terminate. I thought that the default heatsink delivered (The black one) should be enough. Now I cool it with a fan and during testexexcution the temp was between 59.3 to 61.0. Powersupply is in spec.

What is a recommended burnin test for parallella?

A second run of the test delivered the same error.

This question was also raised by frodo (test failure postend on Mon Oct 19, 2015 8:15 pm ) and he did not get any answer.

2) I have a serial cable connected to the parallella and can observe the whole boot process in gtkterm but i am unable to log into the box. Whatam I missing. The term settings should be correct.

Thanx for any info
Daniel

First, I laughed when I read brownbear. Although I like that name, it's browndeer.

Second, I don't think there is anything wrong with the one failed test. I believe the Epiphany cores just ran out of memory.

Third, heating of the Zync has been problematic for some time. You can adjust or disable the thermal daemon if you have stability problems. But a fan is a better solution.

There are two processors on the board. If you want to test the Epiphany, there are many codes available on github.

You need to start a getty instance on the serial port for serial login.
