HDMI Crashes After 3 Minutes

Postby mgentry10 » Sun Jun 11, 2017 3:51 am

Does anyone know a work around for the paraubuntu 2016 11.1 with HDMI release to keep the GUI from crashing? I can boot up and load into the GUI for about 3 minutes, then the screen goes black. Or have a link to older releases with HDMI support for this type of system? I am new to parallelism and was unable to find an older Parallella OS and dont know which other OS to choose to take it's place. Thank you!

Hi,

Do you have a fan?

Sounds like the thermal daemon is kicking in. It will shutdown the board when the Zynq on-chip thermal sensor goes above 70C to protect the components from overheating.

A heatsink is supplied with the board but this will not provide sufficient cooling alone and a fan must be used. It is possible that a fan may be sufficient without the heatsink, but using both is advisable. Note that only a small amount of airflow is required.
