Slight correction to Andrew's post. The Kickstarter page referred to cost, NOT price.
Unfortunately, it's too early to commit to long term chip pricing:-( Our long term goal is for the Epiphany chips to be available to the general public at very attractive prices but there are many, many expensive steps left before we get there. The Epiphany silicon that will be used on the Parallella boards will be "engineering sample" grade, implying that they haven't reached productions status yet.
For the next six months, given finite resources our energy will be spent fulfilling the Parallella commitment. If we are successful in raising more funds, we'll accelerate the Epiphany chip production schedule.
The big boys make it look easy, but being a semiconductor company is actually pretty challenging:-)
