HDMI connection

How do we know if our parallella has an HDMI connection? I am pretty sure it has the 7010 desgn, but I cannot be sure about the HDMI connection.

I want to be able to use my HD TV as a monitor and surf the internet as was shown on one of the videos at parallellla,org. I guess we need the HDMI connection to do that.

Any help appreciated.

If it has a Micro HDMI socket it has HDMI, provided that is that the HDMI bitstream and kernel is used.

I am not sure which Parallella version that I received. i got my Parallella last summer (early) and it usees the small heatsink. Now I asuumed that I did not have the HDMI connection, but I hooked the Parallellla up to monitor via the HDMI connection. I thought it was the only place to connect.

It kept saying "no signal" on the monitor screen. I am assuming that since it is not an HDMI Parallellla than it must be hooked up to a VGA point on my monitor - the connection with the set of pins. This should correct the no signal message on the monitor?

Also, I loaded the software as headless. So even if it did have a HDMI port it should read no connection.

Any help appreciated.

It certainly sounds as though you have a Parallella with HDMI, but to get it to work you will need to use the HDMI kernel and FPGA bitstream.

The board does not support VGA. It may be possible to get it to work with a converter, but I can't see why it would be worth the trouble unless it was some sort of specialist display.

If you load the HDMI kernel and bitstream and connect up a HDMI monitor, but don't get an output, I would check to see if your router is leasing the board a DHCP address.

All boards have an micro HDMI and you need a micro HDMI to HDMI cable to connect and as Andrew said, the right image to make it work. It is recommended to use an HDMI monitor, most DVI Monitors will also work, but the HDMI to DVI converters are not as reliable as one would like.

If you are using a headless image, then seeing no signal is the correct result - so can you clarify the problem? If you want HDMI, then you need to use the HDMI images.
