Parallella's case

Postby SKyd3R » Wed Apr 05, 2017 1:08 pm

Hello there!

I just bought the Parallella board and I want to get a case to keep it safe.

I found an open case, but it doesn't really convince me: https://groundelectronics.com/products/ ... ooling-kit
I also found a close 3D printing design, but I don't have a 3D printer: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:273701

Anyway to obtain a proper case?

Thanks!

Adapteva sells a case. I've been using them and they keep the temperatures around 56 C without a fan.

The Amazon page and other instructions can be found here:

The main criticism is that the included spacers aren't right and you have to be careful about over-tightening the bolts when attaching the aluminum cover plate to the Parallella board. But I have not had any issues yet. The "heatsink hack" works and improves things. If you've already attached a heatsink to the board, you may have to take some care to remove it.

Sorry, I didn't realize that :|

They look unavailable at DigiKey too. I can't imagine they're all gone and this should be temporary. I recall there were 2700 pounds of cases (~5000 units?). I'm not sure what to tell you.
