The Debug-Score

Postby theover » Thu Mar 27, 2014 5:19 pm

What's the debug score after I'm sure quite a lot of work of Andreas and his past and present teams?

The whole design as I've understood is being verified by many happy customers (who have their boards already, grmbl grmbl) to "generally work", for which applause.

But what about the one-sided DMA problem, and more recently The Usb Bug ? Are we going to learn some deeper electronics universal truth from it, or do we have to start believing in a conspiracy, or Murphy's law, or ...??

Who can comment ?

Not sure which one sided DMA problem you are referring to?

In terms of the USB, here's a summary.(still looking for the one universal root cause, first priority right now..):
-"The problem" is only during initialization/reset, wifi, camera, etc works great during normal operation.
-Some boards are more problematic than others
-Many boards boot up with USB working the second time if the reset button is pushed.
-We are working very happily with the boards here in general (including USB).
-Problem seems to be worse with short USB cables or no cable at all plugged in.
-In addition, a very small number of users(out of 1500 shipped) have reported USB not working and have asked to return the boards.. We don't know what the problem is without actually getting our hands on those boards and debugging them
