Guys, it's a joke. Ha, ha. Not really funny, but still a joke.

That said, I'm rapidly losing faith that Adapteva will remain solvent long enough to ship the preorder backlog. The first thing a company circling the drain does is stop communicating. I preordered last July, and since then, I've been given no less than three probable shipping dates. We haven't had an official update from Adapteva in over a month, and nobody from Adapteva seems to be responding In the forums anymore.

If I don't have product in hand by the end of April, I'm going to end up going to prototype on someone else's hardware. The product will end up being much larger than a Parallela board, but I can't sit on it any longer. Actually, I probably could sit on it longer, but I'm not going to.

If I had given money through Kickstarter, I'd be pissed at this point. I'm pretty sure that money is gone, whether you ever get a product or not. One of the dangers of unregulated crowd sourcing, I guess. :-(

It's not possible to foster loyalty or faith among customers when you stop talking to them. Enthusiastic postings from people who have somehow been able to obtain hardware is not the same as official information from Adapteva. I'd love to post a photo of a Parallela board, but I (along with most of the people posting here) can't seem to get my hands on one.

Andrew/9600 - thanks for that cross post. I don't use Kickstarter because of situations like this, so I didn't even think to check there.

At this point, I have no inclination to believe any date provided by Adapteva. As the song goes, "We've been down this road before." I've been in this industry too long (25+ years) to start ignoring my BS detector now.

If I end up with the Parallela boards I ordered last July, I'll be pleasantly surprised. If I don't end up with them, I'll recover the money from my credit card company, and after about a year, the whole thing will be consigned to my "Out of sight - out of mind" file. Since I have had to examine other alternatives, the excitement I had last July has faded.

As buyers of this product, it is NOT our responsibility to ask for updates. We should be getting some kind of update every few days, not when the crescendo of users expressing frustration becomes too heated.

I want the product, but I'm not sure I can trust Adapteva to provide a stable channel for hardware moving forward. I'm not sure the company is stable enough to risk my livelihood. I'm stuck in a rotten position - I can play it safe and use less powerful hardware, or I can risk the viability of my product by using the Parallela board. Despite being ignored by Adapteva, I'm not willing to simply ignore my customers. It's poor business practice, and it flys in the face of why my customers have stuck with me all these years.

Andreas, it would be really nice if you returned an email. We are all busy, but it is profoundly unprofessional and wholly inappropriate to fail to respond to email from a customer.

well, i don't care the delay.

just wondering adapteva's next move,
product is important, but the men behind of it more important,
wish all of you will be succeed.

Adapteva should know that "normal users" never check the twitter or the forum frequently.
If there is no kickstarter update or email, they will just lose interest in Parallella.

Personally, I am looking at the forum every day, as well as the Adapteva web site and Andreas's Twitter account ( good articles posted there by the way, enjoyed reading them :D )

I do not use Twitter (except above) and do not use Facebook at all as I do not have the time to constantly blog/Tweet. I am however on Linked In, so do check up on Adapteva as a follower.

I have not lost interest either :D

Regards,

Paul
