Support for InfiniBand?

Postby vladtheimpaler » Wed Apr 30, 2014 6:01 pm

Hi,

My "dream" would be to build a petascale computer comprised entirely of Parallela boards/Epiphany chips. This system would be small enough, energy efficient enough, and stable enough (fault tolerant) to embed into unmanned autonomous vehicles. :ugeek:

In order to achieve this dream, the first question I have goes something like this:

I would be interested in investigating the efficacy of networking a cluster of Parallel boards over an InfiniBand fabric. The first hurdle I see is that the Parallela board currently does not interface to PCIe. What would need to be added to the hardware to support PCIe? Beyond that, what other technical hurdles exist that would prevent clustering with a high performance, low-latency, RDMA capable, OS bypass interconnect?
