durability question

Postby GJPinks » Thu Jun 12, 2014 2:10 am

Is anyone testing the parallella-adapteva systems to usage load and how they hold up compared to traditional server boards? I realize they are early in the life cycle, but I am looking at a possible server system, but don't want to worry about sigificant unexpected failures.

Thanks for any and all feedback

Well, there is obviously no long term data available for Rev 1 boards, but at least I can say that I have made a "burn-in" test with my Parallella running under more or less full CPU load (not using the Epiphany yet) doing Einstein@Home distributed computing for almost 2 weeks non-stop 24/7 , without any issues. I would guess that the most likely part to fail under "server-style" loads will be the SD-card if you keep writing heavily to it.
