Well, I have build my own kernel, and put the result in the BOOT partition, which works, but I thought since there's a different install instruction for the non-hdmi (which I have tried but not with my own kernel) maybe the kernel build should reflect the absence of the hdmi interface.

Well, I think I put all the audio/usb options on during kernel configuration/build, but as it seems, it still doesn't recognize my quality 384/24 converter (which is supposed to get automatically recognized via UAC2, like the other linux systems I have, including the Raspberry Pi).

I just checked /etc/ssh/sshd_config on the P., and it says forwarding is yes. What I mean however is that I want to say xhost+ and allow other machines to open a window on the ubuntu x server, which doesn't work. I recall from other linuxes that there is some config/session manager startup option to allow tcp/ip contact with the X server, I'll search.
