You will need to add the following to your .bashrc for the new SDK to work.

export EPIPHANY_HDF=${EPIPHANY_HOME}/bsps/zed_E16G3_512mb/zed_E16G3_512mb.hdf

We will add this line to the INSTALL instructions on the parallella ftp site. Note that the actual HDF used depends on the board you are using.(the above line should be correct for your board).

Yes the hello-world.c script now builds and runs fine on all the processors.

In summary :
I got the hello-world scripts from esdk.4.13.04.24_linux_x86_64_armv7l.tgz
from esdk.4.13.04.24\examples\hello_world
The esdk being run on the hardware was upgraded to esdk.4.13.03.30_linux_armv7l.tgz
set run $EPIPHANY_HOME to point to the esdk (if it does not already)
run $EPIPHANY_HOME/setup.csh
Add to .bashrc (and run (for the board I am using)
export EPIPHANY_HDF=${EPIPHANY_HOME}/bsps/zed_E16G3_512mb/zed_E16G3_512mb.hdf
