Books and Online Resources for new programmers

Postby locohammerhead » Wed Jun 19, 2013 1:42 am

Hello all,

I want your opinions on what programming language is best for coding in parallel. What books would you recommend, any online tutorials that are really good? I am working on Python at www.codeacademy.com but they only get so indepth and I need something more. I know C, C++ pretty well but if someone recommends I use a different language I am more than willing to learn.

You guys are the experts, I am just a loyal subject.

So what does everyone recommend?

Thank you,

Thank you everybody,

At least I'm on the right path and it sounds like this might be a very good thing to know for the future as well. Now let me bounce this idea off of you. Android can run on the ARM cores. What i was thinking was try to make a kernel that would use the ARM coprocessors as more of a bus to divvy up the workload between the cores.

Would this be possible? I'm big into learning how to develop for android and i think both communities can use this adaptation. Imagine a 64 core parallella Android tablet.

I think that would be pretty awesome.
