Trouble building SDK: invalid listing option `r'

Postby sttaft » Thu Jun 20, 2013 1:51 pm

While trying to build the SDK on Mac OSX 10.8.4, I am getting the following error:

Assembler messages:
Fatal error: invalid listing option `r'

A "google" for this error message implies some problem with the binutils assembler "not understanding the magic of mach-o." However, I am not clear on how that can be fixed in the context of this installation.

Note that after using "port" to retrieve the various prerequisites such as "mpfr," I had to add "--with-mpfr=/opt/local" to the configure command. I also created a version of the build script which bypassed (re)doing the "Create Unified Source" and the "configure" step, so I could just re-run the "make" step as needed.

Thanks for any hints on how to get past this problem.

Hi sttaft,

So we have a better idea on where the build is failing and can help you, could you upload your build log somewhere so we can see where in the build something is failing?

In the mean time, I've added some more information to the OS X build page (https://github.com/parallella/epiphany- ... ing-on-Mac, paragraph starting with 'Also note'). Could you try downloading mpfr, etc. manually and extracting them and see if that helps with the issue. If you are skipping rebuilding of unified source, move the directories to srcw instead of src/gcc and then don't provide --with-mpfr to your configure line (same if you are mentioning with-gmp or with-mpc). (Additionally remove the entire bld-epiphany folder before reconfiguring to make sure everything builds fresh).
