request: add a wiki to the site

Postby Gravis » Sun Jul 21, 2013 12:54 pm

there seem to be a lot of posts about esdk issues like building the toolchain and common stuff that people get stuck on. my suggestion is to make a wiki so that people can put tutorials on how to do some of these things correctly and fix issues that may arise. it would also be good for "how to get started" type stuff and code example and explanations for various features of the parallella and epiphany processor. of course there should be the really technical pages too for stuff like schematics, specific esdk functions and other junk.

of course this does mean putting in a some effort, mostly in organizing the pages on the wiki .

if you do this, pick the wiki engine carefully and make sure you use a secure configuration, i've had my server hacked via wiki more than once. oh yeah, spam is a killer so i suggest using forum accounts as the wiki accounts too as i havent seen any spam on this forum yet.

I've started a collection of pages on the eLinux wiki:

http://elinux.org/Parallella

So the idea is that like BeagleBoard and Raspberry Pi etc. we can host our community/developer wiki there.

I'll be making some updates this week and we'll need to give thought as to how to best organise this.

Canonical Parallella hardware info should really live on parallella.org, and with eSDK that should be on adapteva.com (Epiphany SDK will be used by more than just Parallella). So we need to give careful consideration to where things should be hosted, e.g. certain omissions should be addressed at the aforementioned websites, with community developed resources at the eLinux wiki.

Cheers,

Andrew
