interface to red pitaya

Postby msetina » Thu Oct 31, 2013 8:27 am

Both being a kickstarter projects and both using same processors and as i can see both stackable, is there a posibility to connect parallella and red pitaya in the same way one would connect two parallella boards? It would enhance processing possibilities for red pitaya with a paralel procesor enhancing signal processing.

I did wonder whether you could implement an eLink interface on the Red Pitaya ZynQ FPGA, and then connect it to PEC_NORTH or PEC_SOUTH on the Parallella, but the Red Pitaya only has 16 GPIO lines and . Although it looks as though you could maybe use the Red Pitaya "daisy chain" connections to get another 16 FPGA pins.

Of course, you could cluster them via Ethernet, and if connection via eLink is not possible you could implement some other sort of high-speed, low latency link between the two using the FPGA fabric in each.

Cheers,
