parallella based home server?

Postby yairpod » Fri Nov 08, 2013 8:25 am

hello everyone,
I was wondering whether a parallella board could be used as a home sever,
Particularly to create virtual machines to be used on a remote client instead of a home PC.
Do you think it could/should be done?

Personally I don't think this would be useful... it's rather a waste of the Epiphany chip and the FPGA side of the Zynq CPU. That is, if virtualization is supported on the ARM processor and you want to run a Linux or virtualisable ARM O/S. Windows is not an option here.

If you really do need multiple non-Windows servers, a collection of Raspberry Pis would do the job (use one of them as a file server), and you'd still have some cash left over to get a Parallella for number-crunching.
