what is included in the package

Postby ed2k » Tue Dec 24, 2013 10:36 pm

I got my board right now, but it doesn't come with power and sd card. is it on purpose.
Do I need to get my own power adapter and create my own file system to boot?

I would like to test it right away, seems not possible now.

ed2k,

It is my understanding that although the initial prototype boards did ship with all necessary accessories (SD card, cables, and power adapter), the final Gen 1.1 boards will not ship with any additional accessories, in order to meet the $99 price point. It is up to the backer/buyer to provide these items on their own or as an option they can buy the following bundle from Adapteva.

understood, maybe I am out of the loop for too long. when I look at the quick start guide, it is showing those extra bundle. I thought it come with the the package. It is fine with me, as long as we made very clear to the buyer.

ed2k,

I agree that the Gen1 Quick Start Guide (http://www.parallella.org/quick-start-2/) does not make it very clear that these accessories are not included with the Parallella-16 board, only that they are needed to get started. I would suggest that they provide a link to the Parallella Accessory Bundle (http://shop.adapteva.com/collections/fe ... ory-bundle) or at least a detailed description of these items and possibly links to other sources where these items may be bought.

On the Parallella-16 Pre-Order product page (http://shop.adapteva.com/collections/fe ... allella-16), it is a bit more clear regarding this matter, as it states the following under the notes section.

"Unless otherwise specified, the Parallella-16 board ships bare without a 5V power supply or SD card. (These must be purchased separately.)"

What may be confusing to some folks, is that the Kickstarter pledge descriptions for the Parallella boards (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ada ... r-everyone) indicate that they come "loaded with the development software needed to create our own innovative projects", which might make some folks think that the SD card is atleast included.
