Parallella Build Options - HDMI

Hi,

According to the ref. manual, there are 4 build options:

1) • Zynq Device: Z-7010 or Z-7020
2) • Epiphany Device: E16G301 or E64G401
3) • IO: With our without Samtec expansion connectors
4) • Ethernet: With or without Ethernet (RJ45 and Ethernet Phy)

Can we add another option regarding the HDMI? There are some people (me included) who do not require an HDMI chip (with its connector) on the board and can suffice with the available USB ports.

The ADV7513BSWZ costs $5.77 @ 2,500 units, according to Digi Key...

I think the IO and the Ethernet build option might be more about space /height than saving money.
The 5$ saved in hdmi component could be easily eaten up by the added management cost.

OK, I agree. But what about modifying an already existing option:

4) With or without BOTH Ethernet AND HDMI

The reasoning is as follows. Generally, people who will need HDMI will also need Ethernet, those are mainly hobbyist community.

Others who will be using the board for industrial applications will generally not need neither HDMI nor Ethernet, and will suffice with the USB and the expansion I/Os.

I meight be wrong, but does this make sense?
