If I'd been flat out told "This might take another 2 years" I'd still have pre-ordered, and I believe this is true for many others. Parallella is a great project and the price of a board is affordable even for someone like me(student living off government aid). And anyone with a brain who pre-ordered will have known that Adapteva hasn't met any deadlines so far, and that there is no indication that they will do so in the future.

I think the biggest harm done by the missed deadlines in this past year is that everyone's been getting ready to start doing stuff, but the "go" never came. Now even when the parallella does ship, nobody will get enthusiastic about it and prepare until the parallella physically sits in their mailbox.

What i don't understand is if Andreas Olofsson doesn't have time to update us about the status of the project as promised, how come he all the time to update his twitter account which he seems to be doing pretty much everyday. When i don't get the update, i can atleast be rest assured that they are working their asses off, but they seem to have time for Twitter.

I have no axe to grind and am in no way an apologist for Adapteva. I'm waiting for my boards, cases, eBook, ... just as you are.

Of course each of us may hold a differing opinion as to what constitutes an appropriate amount of status reporting and the timeliness thereof. That's why I included "I believe" in that portion of my original post on this subject.

On the other hand, it does seem apparent that the myriad tasks of product development and the ancillary work (to which I alluded) is sufficiently far advanced - sufficiently realized, if you will - that it is indeed likely that we'll all get our Parallellas by, at worst, the end of January 2014. Do I have a crystal ball? No, I do not. Until Adapteva is absolutely certain that delivery is immanent it would be foolish of them to declare that date. (Here I may cite the case of a certain, infamous, game engine company.)

Speaking of games... this is not a game, and I ask again: do you seriously believe that Andreas Olofsson et al. - people that seem to have the necessary experience, skills, and ethics - are going to botch the Parallella and / or take advantage of their Kickstarter backers? And remember, their professional reputations are firmly on the line here: no small matter is this closely-connected world of today!

You may disagree as to how late is "too late", but at this juncture I'm not unduly upset - honestly, this amount of overtime is simply not a surprise given the resources available for the tasks at hand.
